SYC is a multi-service organisation delivering employment, education, housing and social services across Australia. With more than 65 years of impact, SYC supports Australians to create a life without disadvantage, build sustainable independence and experience wellbeing in all areas of their lives. With an established national presence, longstanding government relationships and a diverse service portfolio, SYC is strengthening its operating model to support organisational performance, sustainability and future growth. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer will provide enterprise leadership across finance, treasury, investment, Information technology, Risk, property assets, and financial development. As a key member of the Executive Team, you will strengthen financial integrity, transparency and commercial discipline while ensuring SYC remains sustainable, resilient and positioned for growth. You will lead budgeting, forecasting, cash and investment strategy, financial risk and Board reporting, and provide clear insight that enables leaders to make confident decisions. Beyond stewardship, you will assess tenders, partnerships, grants, acquisitions and other growth opportunities, balancing return, risk and mission impact. You will also shape the systems, controls and performance reporting needed to establish one source of truth across a complex national organisation. We are seeking a commercially minded and values-led finance executive who combines strong technical capability with enterprise-wide judgement. CA or CPA qualified, you will bring executive leadership experience in a medium or large organisation, deep expertise across financial and management accounting, audit, governance, risk, treasury and investment, and a track record of improving systems, controls and organisational performance. You will be credible with Boards, auditors, bankers, investment advisers, government and senior leaders, and able to translate complexity into practical commercial choices. Experience evaluating tenders, contract performance, funding models, mergers and acquisitions, property or asset portfolios will be highly regarded. You will be motivated by the distinctive opportunity of a profit-for-purpose environment: protecting financial strength, building organisational wealth and directing resources towards sustainable growth and greater social impact.
This is a significant opportunity to shape the financial future of a national profit-for-purpose organisation, working closely with the CEO and Board to strengthen performance, diversify revenue and create the capacity for enduring community impact.
