We are seeking for a passionate and driven Youth Skills Coach to support young people build confidence, develop life skills, and move toward positive futures. We are excited to offer an internal opportunity for a Youth Skills Coach on a full‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term contract. In this mobile role across the Logan area, you’ll work with young people who are at risk of offending or engaged with the Youth Justice system, providing tailored, strengths‑based coaching that helps them achieve meaningful training outcomes and progress into further education or employment. Youth Skills delivers nationally recognised training and employment support to young people aged 15–24 who are engaged with Youth Justice Services, Queensland Corrective Services, or the Queensland Police Service. Our person‑centred approach focuses on wellbeing, life skills, and job readiness to help young people overcome barriers and achieve their goals. Key responsibilities - Deliver one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Support young people to develop life, social, and employability skills.
- Building trusting, supportive relationships with participants.
- Promote and develop relationships with the employers.
- Develop a goal and progress schedule with each participants.
- Provide support and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain networks with relevant service providers.
About You You will bring a proactive, solutions‑focused approach and the ability to adapt to the individual needs of young people. You’re confident providing one‑to‑one coaching that builds rapport, motivates engagement, and supports positive decision‑making. To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate: - Experience in effectively engaging and working with young people with an offender background in a coaching/development role
- Experience in building trusting relationships with young people and supporting them to identify and achieve goals.
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal and liaison skills.
- The ability to negotiate on behalf of young people with stakeholders, including employers and service providers.
- Time management and organisational skills, able to plan, priorities and achieve outcomes with minimal supervision and/or direction and to successfully meet deadlines and KPI's
For this role, you will need to: - Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
- Have possession of a current valid Driver’s License, willingness to drive, and your own registered vehicle with a 4–5-star ANCAP safety rating
