The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program delivers training to Australian’s aged over 15 years seeking to build their language, literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy skills to improve their access and pathways for further study and work. We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced trainer to join SYC in this role based at our Mount Gambier site. As a SEE Trainer / Assessor, you will be responsible for the delivery and assessment of high-quality language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy training to enable participants access to and preparation for further vocational training, education and/or employment.
In this role, you will play a key part in the positive promotion of SYC’s Skills for Education and Employment Program and be part of a supportive and result driven team. Your responsibilities will include: - Undertaking Pre-Training assessments for participants.
- Delivering engaging language, literacy, numeracy, job-search, and digital literacy training and providing support to students to access and prepare for further education, vocational training, and employment.
- Developing and maintaining positive networks and effective referral relationships with workforce Australia providers, local employers and the community, and sourcing work experience placement and employment opportunities.
- Ensuring all training delivered meets several relevant industry requirements and VET Quality Framework
- Completing all required preparation and non-teaching tasks associated with the delivery of training in a timely and accurate manner.
- Working collaboratively with the management team to deliver a best practice training product.
- Providing advice, support and mentoring to students.
About You As someone who enjoys training and helping others to develop their language, literacy, and numeracy skills. You will be driven to deliver effective training and to support students on their learning journey. Successful applicants will demonstrate: - Holding a current Cert IV in Training and Assessment or diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education, and
- A Language, Literacy, and Numeracy qualification such as the TAESS00026 Foundation Skills Integration Skill Set
- Previous experience delivering Language, Literacy and Numeracy or foundation skills programs, and engaging students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds
- The ability to create enthusiasm and foster trust, cooperation, and support of others
- ‘Up front’ presentation skills with the ability to adapt one’s approach and maintain effectiveness with a variety of people and situations, imparting knowledge and giving meaning to complex information and ideas in a clear, concise, and engaging manner
- Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
- Knowledge and understanding of ASQA standards and VET Quality Framework, Vocational Education, training sector, flexible learning, and assessment methodologies
For this role, you will: - Demonstrated completion of, or be willing to undertake Mental Health First Aid and Disability Awareness training
- Must be willing to complete relevant employment screening and to maintain requisite clearances or checks as required such as a national police check and a working with children check.
- Hold the minimum qualification requirement as stated under "About You"
- Have a current valid Driver’s License, willingness to drive, and your own registered vehicle with a 4 or 5-star ANCAP safety rating
