This is an Expression of Interest for an outcome focused Teacher to join our Alternative Learning team on a part-time basis, located in our Studio North (Elizabeth) site and some possibility of work available in the second semester at our Studio East (Payneham) site.


Reporting to the Program Manager of Learning in collaboration with contracted schools you will plan, prepare, and deliver group learning sessions based on ACARA and SACE frameworks to students of varying ages and abilities that also cater to their individual learning and development needs.

 

In this role, you'll provide options and supports to inspire and challenge students with identified barriers to learning. Day to day activities will include: 

    • Collaborating with contracted schools and developing flexible learning resources in line with program objectives.
    • Facilitating the learning program by establishing positive relationships while creating a supportive and safe learning environment to meet the needs of individual students.
    • Working collaboratively with Case Manager’s, internal and external stakeholders for the benefit of the program.
    • Selecting and utilising a diverse range of learning resources and equipment to support effective engagement and learning.
    • Proactively organising the classroom and learning resources and create displays to encourage a positive learning environment.
    • Engaging and motivating students with enthusiastic and creative presentations.
    • Keeping up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.
    • Modelling and maintaining appropriate behaviours within the class.
    • Providing feedback to parents, and carers on a student’s progress at meetings as required.

About You

As someone who enjoys working in a highly collaborative team environment, you will be passionate about supporting young people to engage in an alternative learning space.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

    • Experience in engaging and working with young people who are disadvantaged by homelessness, an offender history, family breakdown, poverty or lack of education.
    • Strong engagement skills and the ability to interact effectively and sensitively with young people from diverse
      backgrounds, their families, and other service providers to achieve positive outcomes with clients.
    • Previous experience in delivering group programs/classes in a trauma informed classroom setting.

For this role, you will need to:

    • Degree in Teaching/Education or a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
    • Hold and maintain a current RRHAN-EC certificate and Safe Environments Training certificate.
    • Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
    • Have a current and valid driver's licence and your own registered vehicle with a 4 or 5 star ANCAP safety rating
    • Be eligible to work in Australia
