Driving Instructor- Geared2Drive
Full Time /Part-time /Casual - Adelaide South

As a Driving Instructor you will have the opportunity to help learner drivers become safe and independent drivers to increase their opportunities for sustainable employment.


This position will be working across Adelaide South region. This role is being offered as either permanent full-time/ part- time/ casual with flexible hours.


The success of SYC’s Geared2Drive (G2D) program, ensuring participants develop the required knowledge and skills to effectively drive a motor vehicle and become more confident drivers.

The day-to-day activities will include:  

  • Providing professional, safe, and compliant 1:1 driver training to individual participants of the G2D program.
  • Completing participant learner logbooks / supervised driving records at conclusion of each session.
  • Maintaining driving instruction records, including participant bookings and attendance, driving sessions and duration, and the provision of progress notes.
  • Ensuring the vehicle is maintained in good working condition.
  • Updating and maintaining professional knowledge of changes to instructor training requirements, road rules and regulations as they occur.

About You

As someone who has a passion to impart knowledge to others and enjoys coaching participants of all ages in learning to drive, you will have the ability to maintain positive working relationships and work effectively as a member of a larger team to deliver quality services and collaboratively achieve outcomes.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in driving instruction and supervision to learner drivers, including use of dual pedal controls.
  • Patience and a calm approach in the delivery of instructions to learners.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of road traffic regulations, road safety and licencing requirements.
  • Time management and organisational skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise and achieve outcomes.
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to produce documentation such as emails and reports.

For this role, you will need to:

  • Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
  • Be eligible to work in Australia
  • Have possession of a current valid Driver’s Licence
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics Road Transport (Car Driving Instruction).
  • Be willing to hold and maintain the applicable State driving instructor licence:
    • SA – minimum CBT&A Authorised Examiner (yellow flash)
  • Be able to undertake out of hours work, including night driving
  • Be able to undertake country road driving.
