In this role you will walk alongside young people aged 16-25 as they navigate barriers, challenge harmful patterns and strengthen their connection to community. Our work is grounded in evidence-based practice and guided by a deep belief in the strengths, resilience and potential of young people. You will build genuine, respectful relationships with young people who may be at risk of offending or re-offending. Through structured, evidence-based programs, you will support them to understand and address their criminogenic needs while building protective factors. Key responsibilities: - Provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed support to young people.
- Provide compassionate, client-led support through strengths-based assessments that centre each young person’s voice, needs and lived experience.
- Support young people to reflect on and address underlying risk factors, while nurturing protective factors that support positive life choices, connection, and wellbeing.
- Delivering one on one and group programs/training with young people in custody and community.
- Advocating on behalf of clients with relevant services and Government departments, liaise and refer to other services as appropriate, ensuring their voices are heard across systems.
- Supporting pathways into: Employment, Education and Training, Volunteering and Meaningful community participation.
- Working collaboratively with families, community organisations, training providers and employers.
About You Someone who is passionate about working alongside young people, grounded in trauma-informed, community-based practice. You empower young people to make positive choices, adapt to their individual needs, and bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach while contributing to a supportive collaborative team. To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate: - Experience in holistic case management, including trauma-informed assessment, collaborative case planning, purposeful case noting, and report writing.
- Strong ability to engage young people from diverse backgrounds using culturally responsive, strengths-based and non-judgemental approaches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to produce timely, accurate documentation.
- Experience developing and implementing individualised, person-centred support plans.
- Confidence facilitating individual and group-based programs that build skills, accountability, and wellbeing.
- A positive, reflective and collaborative approach, contributing to a supportive team culture focused on improving outcomes for young people.
For this role, you will need to: - Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
- Have possession of a current valid Driver’s License, willingness to drive.
- Be eligible to work in Australia.
- Hold and maintain an approved First Aid Certificate.
- A tertiary qualification in a discipline relevant to the applicable service agreement or currently working towards same (e.g., Criminology, Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Social Science, Counselling, Youth Work) is desirable, but not essential.
- Be willing to work between the span hours of 6am to 8pm Monday to Friday.
- Be willing to be flexible with the taking of leave around periods of high demand, e.g., school holidays.
