As an Apprenticeship Support Officer, you will provide tailored mentoring, support and guidance to apprentices/trainees and employers to complete their apprenticeship or traineeship, ensuring their success. This role will work across South Australia.

In this role, you will provide mentoring services at various stages of the apprenticeship journey, including pastoral care, facilitating peer-to-peer mentoring, and providing referral information and guidance.

• Providing mentoring and personal support services tailored to the needs of individual apprentices and their employers.
• Proactively engaging and developing trusted professional relationships with apprentices and employers offering individualised support by maintaining contact via telephone, SMS, email, skype, or face to face.
• Creating a personalised Tailored Support Plan for each apprentice and employers, respecting their lived experiences.
• Providing early intervention, customised strategic support, and case management services to apprentices.
• Support employers to improve employment practices, workplace culture and work with apprentices with additional support needs.
• Hosting meetings or mediation with employers and apprentices to achieve positive outcomes.

About You

As someone who enjoys working autonomously within a broader team environment, you will be passionate about mentoring and supporting the next generation of skilled apprentices to achieve quality outcomes. You will be outcomes focused, successfully building and sustaining relationships to provide effective individualised support. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Lived experience and/or established networks with communities, organisations, or employers.
• Previous experience or background in mentoring or coaching, and community development.
• Proficiency in leading, influencing and motivating diverse individuals and/or employers using a coaching and advisory approach to achieve quality apprentice outcomes.
• Strong engagement skills and the ability to interact effectively influence and motivate apprentices and/or employers.
• Time management, organisational skills, and the ability to plan and prioritise to achieve outcomes.
• Strong communication skills, including negotiation, mediation and problem-solving.
• Knowledge of local labour market conditions, industries, and opportunities.
• Knowledge and understanding of Australian Apprenticeship Services and Government Employment Services, RTOs, and Group Training Organisations.

For this role, you will need to:

• Complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
• Have possession of a current valid Driver’s License, willingness to drive, and your own registered vehicle with a 4–5-star ANCAP safety rating.
• Be eligible to work in Australia.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to join SYC as part of our Employment portfolio, working preferably at our Mount Gambier site, if not, our Adelaide metro sites to provide high quality employment focused counselling and case management services to participants via in-person or telehealth appointments. In this role you will support participants experiencing non‑vocational barriers - such as mental health challenges, confidence, motivation, and life complexity - to progress towards sustainable and meaningful employment outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide counselling, psychoeducation and therapeutic interventions tailored to participants’ needs.
• Support participants to address barriers impacting employment (e.g. mental health, emotional regulation, confidence, motivation, social functioning)
• Deliver brief interventions in line with service timeframes and outcomes.
• Facilitate referrals to external support services and advocate on behalf of participants with services as required.
• Support participants to identify strengths, goals, and pathways toward sustainable employment.
• Work collaboratively with Employment Coaches and other stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate, timely case notes and detailed reports and/or assessments aligned with compliance requirements.

This role would suit a provisional psychologist or recent graduate looking to broaden their practical real-world experience, develop case management and therapeutic skills, and practice.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Tertiary/degree qualification in Psychology.
• Experience supporting individuals with non-vocational or employment-related challenges, including mental health or psychosocial barriers.
• Strong understanding of recovery‑oriented, trauma‑informed, and person‑centred practice.
• Knowledge of motivational interviewing, CBT‑informed or solution‑focused approaches.
• Ability to deliver outcome‑focused interventions in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and documentation skills.
• Experience in employment services, community services, or similar settings (desirable).
• Experience in completing neurological disorder assessments and supporting accurate diagnosis in line with best practice.

The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program delivers training to Australian’s aged over 15 years seeking to build their language, literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy skills to improve their access and pathways for further study and work. 

We are currently seeking qualified and experienced trainers to work from our Murray Bridge site.

As a SEE Trainer / Assessor, you will be responsible for the delivery and assessment of high-quality language, literacy, and numeracy and digital literacy training to enable participants access to and preparation for further vocational training, education and/or employment. 

In this role, you will play a key part in the positive promotion of SYC’s Skills for Education and Employment Program and be part of a supportive and result driven team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking Pre-Training assessments for participants.
• Delivering engaging language, literacy, numeracy, job-search, and digital literacy training and providing support to students to access and prepare for further education, vocational training, and employment.
• Developing and maintaining positive networks and effective referral relationships with workforce Australia providers, local employers and the community, and sourcing work experience placement and employment opportunities.
• Ensuring all training delivered meets several relevant industry requirements and VET Quality Framework
• Completing all required preparation and non-teaching tasks associated with the delivery of training in a timely and accurate manner.
• Working collaboratively with the management team to deliver a best practice training product.
• Providing advice, support and mentoring to students.

About You
As someone who enjoys training and helping others to develop their language, literacy, and numeracy skills, you will be driven to deliver effective training and to support students on their learning journey.  Successful applicants will demonstrate:

• Holding a current Cert IV in Training and Assessment or diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education, and 
• TESOL or Language, Literacy and/or Numeracy practitioner qualification at minimum Certificate IV level.
• Previous experience delivering Language, Literacy and Numeracy or foundation skills programs, and engaging students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
• The ability to create enthusiasm and foster trust, cooperation, and support of others.
• ‘Up front’ presentation skills with the ability to adapt one’s approach and maintain effectiveness with a variety of people and situations, imparting knowledge and giving meaning to complex information and ideas in a clear, concise, and engaging manner.
• Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of ASQA standards and VET Quality Framework, Vocational Education, training sector, flexible learning, and assessment methodologies.

For this role, you will:

• Demonstrate or be willing to undertake Mental Health First Aid and Disability Awareness training.
• Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
• Have a current valid Driver’s License, willingness to drive, and your own registered vehicle with a 4 or 5-star ANCAP safety rating.
• Be eligible to work in Australia.
